7th Sourdough Fly-In

WOW! What a great weekend. The sun was hot, the food was yummy, and the people were everywhere.

A weekend highlight was the Will Stoltz Band - who flew in from Nashville!
People hung around to dance and sing along and enjoy their message of hope.
And there's always magic in the air when Dave takes Jacque out on the dance floor.
The Sourdough Marketplace launched this year and was a big hit! Locals brought their hand made items to sell and there was a great variety: wood burned carvings, salmon skin and birch bark jewelry,
beautiful crocheted hats, Port Alsworth mugs, and a table full of free books!
The flying competition was down by The General this year and everyone enjoyed sipping their old fashioned milkshakes as they watched the pilots put on a fun show. Tanalian Aviation even did a fly-by in their helicopter, showering the cheering crowd in a swirl of dust. Well, cheering children anyway.
Thank you to all the Fly-In sponsors:

Bush Flying 101 - When flying in an LPA bush plane expect...

To have fun.
The seat to be a little smaller than any non-reclining lazy boy you may have.
To wear a seat belt.
A cheerful pilot.
Your view to be spectacular!
Your elbow to touch your neighbors. It’s ok.
To shout if you want to have a conversation.
To see something if the pilot dips a wing: bears? moose?
That your pictures won’t capture what you saw with your real eye. So sad!
Your dozen eggs to arrive in edible condition.
To clap and whoop it up after your stellar landing.
To book another flight.

I knew it! You had fun, didn’t you!?
